Ministry with College-aged Adults

Please contact our Deacon Associate, Rev. Alan Williams, for information regarding our ministry with college-aged Adults. If your son or daughter is planning to attend Marshall University, please send Rev. Williams your student’s name and campus contact information – we would love to be his or her home away from home. College students at Johnson Memorial are very active in serving at Common Grounds and in the Music Ministry, and we love to love them.

Please free to add your email address to our mailing list to receive more information as well as our monthly newsletter.

Johnson Memorial Scholarships

Music Scholarship:  Scholarships are made available annually to Marshall University voice majors willing to commit to weekly attendance at Sanctuary Choir rehearsals and Sunday morning service. Scholarship awards are based upon the recommendation of the Music Director and the approval of the Music Committee.

Jeffrey Ohl Scholarship: The Jeffrey C. Ohl Education Scholarship is a special ministry for the college-age young adults of Johnson Memorial. It is an expression of faith in the high ideals exemplified by Jeff's life and provides financial aid to help further advanced education, either academic or vocational. Anyone interested in the application process may call the church office for information. The applications are reviewed by the Scholarship Committee in order to select a recipient. The results are announced in early May. The scholarship is for one year, but students can reapply. The deadline for applications is March 31 of each year.

Tom and Marilyn Holleron Volunteer Service Scholarship:  This scholarship is created to support post-secondary education for someone in the Huntington tri-state area who is an active volunteer and who demonstrates by way of an essay the importance of volunteerism, her/his personal volunteer efforts, and the effect voluntary service has had on him/her and the people served. Applicants need not be members or affiliates of Johnson Memorial UMC.
