Children and Youth

Sunday School

Nursery and Preschool: We have a nursery for very young children, located on the ground floor. Paid staff and volunteers from our congregation oversee the nursery.

Kindergarten and Elementary Age: We invite children to join Sunday school on the 3rd floor. Classes are led by caring volunteers who love to share their time with children and to help them grow in their faith.

Middle and High School: Youth meet on the second floor for age appropriate discussions of their faith. With loving guidance from an adult volunteer, the youth explore the questions that are on their minds and hearts.

Vacation Bible School

VBS for 2016 was held in early June. Join us as we celebrate this special week next year, or better yet, bring your children to one of our other Children's Ministry activities.

Worship Opportunities

We hope that your children will join with the church family in worship – we love them and their presence! During worship, the pastor or a worship leader will invite children forward for a Children's Moment - a time during our worship on Sunday morning that is devoted just to them. Following that, children can join Rev. Williams for Children's Worship or stay in the main service with their parents. Children and youth also frequently participate in worship, through the reading of the liturgy and scripture, music offerings (both vocal and instrumental), and acolyting.

Each year, the Children and Youth of the church lead us in worship. Under the direction of our Deacon Associate, Rev. Alan Williams and our Director of Music, Bruce Rous, the children and youth prepare and lead worship, at times even preaching.

Weekday Preschool Program

Johnson Memorial offers a weekday preschool program, with classes for two, three and four year olds. Learn more about it here.

Youth Program

Rev. Williams leads our youth (and sometimes the other way around!) when the group meets for fellowship, service and spiritual growth. The youth program often includes mission work in the community and beyond.
